THERE IS PEACE AT KWAHU NKWATIA, CHIEFS TELL.

Chiefs at Kwahu Nkwatia in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region have assured the residents that they will make sure there is peace in the town.

Koforidua High Court has convicted Nana Kissi Toasakyi – Akyeamehene, Nana Sarfo Osei Kantanka – Adontenhene, Nana Osei Antwi Boasiako -Werempewa and SamuelBoamah Danso for contempt of court
The court sentenced them to vacate the Nkwatia palace within 3 days.

the chiefs of Kwahu Nkwatia and they have assured the residents and the good people of Kwahu not to be afraid of any chieftaincy dispute that will bring down the name of Nkwatia.
According to Nana Osei Sarfo Kantanka, Adontenghene, he said the news was true but they have filed an appeal and for that matter, they will remain in the palace till the final verdict of the appeal.

He took the opportunity to assure residents of Nkwatia and Kwahu in general not to panic because they are going to obey the laws of the country and follow our rich culture of Kwahu.

EZRA News further spoke to Nana Agyekum Benefo Gyasehene of Nkwatia who took the matter to court and also said if they have refunded to vacate the palace at all costs the law will speak soon.

KUMAWU BY-ELECTIONS:Police beefed up security in Kumawu ahead of tomorrow’s by-election The Ghana police service has assured that sufficient measures have been put in place to maintain law and order in Kumawu in the Ashanti Region ahead of tomorrow’s  by-election. In a statement on security measures on Kumawu by-election, the police said, adequate personnel have been deployed to Kumawu and other communities within the constituency to beef up security before, during and after the election. The Electoral Commission of Ghana has set May 23, 2023, for the by-election to take place in Kumawu in the Ashanti Region. The by-election has become necessary after the sitting Member of Parliament Hon. Philip Basoah died after a short illness and was laid to rest on 20th May, 2023. Meanwhile, four candidates including two independent candidates are lacing their boots in a race to succeed the late MP in the Tuesday by-election. As part of security arrangement, the police added that they have engaged the parties contesting the election including New Patriotic Party (NPP), National Democratic Congress (NDC) and one of the independent candidates to enhance collaboration among stakeholders towards a peaceful election. “The Ghana Police Service would like to assure the public that sufficient measures have been put in place to maintain law and order as well as ensure peace and security before, during and after the Kumawu constituency by-election which comes off tomorrow 23rd 2023” the statement said. “Adequate police personnel have been deployed to Kumawu and the other communities within the constituency to support the local police to provide security for the election” part of the statement read. ” As part of the security arrangement, the police this morning engaged the parties contesting the election including the New Patriotic Party (NPP) the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and one of the independent candidates to enhance collaboration among all stakeholders towards a peaceful election. The other Independent candidate in the election was however, unable to honour the invitation to the meeting. The NPP team was led by its National Chairman and General Secretary while the NDC team led by its General Secretary and National Organizer. The Independent candidate represented himself at the meeting” it added.
