KATH to see massive renovation next year as part of Otumfuo’s 25th Anniversary – Dr. Addai – Mensah
Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Ankye Teaching Hospital Prof. Dr Otchere Addai- Mensah has revealed that, the facility is going to see a massive facelift next years for the first time after almost 79 years.
The renovation also forms part of the 25th Anniversary of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II next year, he said.
Speaking to Angel FM Kumasi in interview, the CEO stated clearly that, the hospital cannot rely on its internally generated funds to manage their day to day activities because the amount generate if not enough.
Speaking to Kwame Tanko on the show “Angel in the Morning”, Dr Addai Mensah emphasized that, “Komfo Anokye was built in1954 but from 1954 till date, it has seen no major renovation. Sometimes when you see picture of the hospital, you won’t believe it is Komfo Anokye.”
The Chief Executive Officer of KATH also revealed that the hospital currently serves twelve regions in the country and that has also been a major challenge to them.
Speaking in his interview, Dr Addai Mensah further revealed that, the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has promised to join the campaign to help KATH mobilize money for the rehabilitation of the facility.
“I have had the opportunity to talk to Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and next year happens to be the 25 anniversary of the King. In view of that, we are now making arrangement to mobilize people to solicit support to renovate the old block”, Dr Addai Mensah said.
He also stressed on the need to the hospital to adopt the use of mobile money (MOMO) in their daily activities for patients and clients to be able to conduct businesses with the facility their convenient time.
