MAHAMA SHOWES APPRECIATION TO ASSIN NORTH FOR EMERGING NDC PC AS MP

Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed gratitude to the people of Assin North in the Central Region for the victory given James Gyakye Quayson in Tuesday’s by-election.

Mr Gyakye Quayson, whose election in 2020 was annulled by the courts, was reelected in the crucial polls on Tuesday, June 27.

He polled 17,245 of the total valid votes, representing 57.56%, to beat his contenders, Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).

On Wednesday, June 28, former President Mahama, who visited the Assin North Constituency twice to campaign prior to the by-election, took to his official Twitter page to thank the electorates.

To him, the outcome of the votes is a statement of support for Mr Gyakye Quayson and a rejection of the “non-performing NPP”.

“Your vote for justice and development is truly inspiring,” he added.

He continued to charge all to “keep working together to build the Ghana we all dream of”.
